Restaurant Review: MIRKO Authentic Italian Restaurant
Mom had been googling for a local gluten free restaurant in Flowery Branch. She stumbled upon this small little Italian place that got some great reviews. We decided to try it out and learned that they have about 15 locations in quite a few southern states. Being a GFer for so long, we’ve almost given up trying to find an Italian restaurant. However, I’m so glad that we continued looking.
The restaurant was called MIRKO. By the name, you probably wouldn’t of guessed that it was Italian but it was one of the real deal types of restaurants. It reminded me a lot of eating the pasta and the sauces in Rome before I knew that I was GF.
We told the waitress that we were both GF and it was a good thing we did because we learned that the pasta took a little longer to cook than the normal stuff. The sauces were amazing! None of them were made with flour. That shocked me since normally an Alfredo was made with flour. We got to customize our sauces for our pastas which was quite good.
Mom got a Granchio sauce (lump crab meat, white wine, diced tomatoes, garlic, olive oil and red pepper) plus the classic Alfredo sauce and shrimp. It was fantastic! For myself, I got the traditional Bolognese sauce with cream which then turned into a pink sauce. We will be going back- maybe next week.
Check out their website for more information!
FYI- Some of the menus don’t have GF on them but after calling to confirm they did have the pasta.
